Lime

Fall is the best time of year to apply lime if the need is indicated. Because of heavy rainfall and presence of coniferous trees (pines, firs, cedars, etc.) the soil in our area tends to be acidic. The only way to find out if your soil is acidic is to conduct a soil test. Generally speaking, the lawns here will benefit from an application of lime at the rate of 50 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. every other year or so. Do not apply lime at the same time you fertilize. Wait a week or so between applications.
